Cape Cod Man Rescued After His Leg Gets Stuck In Car Wheel Well

The man was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. He was injured, but is expected to make a full recovery, fire officials said.

WEST YARMOUTH, MA — Fire and rescue officials in West Yarmouth responded to an uncommon but scary scene at Seagull Beach on Wednesday morning.

According to the Yarmouth Fire Department, officials rescued a man who had his foot and ankle pulled into the front wheel well of his car. The man, who was the car's driver, "believed the car was in park when they exited the vehicle," officials said.

"The vehicle rolled forward catching the person's foot and wedging it into the wheel well," they added.

Crews were able to rescue the man without causing further injury by using wood cribbing to stabilize the car. Officials slowly deflated the tire and lifted the car with airbags simultaneously, allowing enough clearance to remove the man's foot.

After being freed, the man was transported to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery, officials said.
