Cape Cod Man Tased after Stealing Fentanyl: Police

A Cape Cod man was tased after police said he stole fentanyl from a local medical facility.

YARMOUTH, MA — A Yarmouth man with 59 previous criminal charges was tased during a police chase Thursday.

Kevin Wordell, 25, had a warrant for recently stealing fentanyl from a local medical facility, police said.

On Thursday at about 1 p.m., a Yarmouth police officer saw Wordell walking behind the Auto Zone on Route 28, police said. Wordell ran off, police said.

"The suspect continued to run until he slipped and fell in a small snow bank," police said in a statement. "Officer Ambrosini fell on top of him and the suspect turned around and squared up in an assaultive manner with his fists clenched. Ambrosini deployed his Taser device but the probes did not connect and the suspect continued to run.

"Officer Ambrosini caught up to the suspect and took him down in the area of Jupiter Lane behind Shaw’s Market. Officer Ambrosini re-deployed his Taser and the suspect was taken in to custody."

Wordell was charged with stealing drugs and resisting arrest.
