Cape Cod Attempted Murder Suspect Caught in Florida

Authorities have caught a murder suspect charged with shooting at a man in Hyannis and stabbing another man in Yarmouth.

William Benton, 22, was wanted for attempted murder and assault, among other charges.

He was captured in Tarpon Springs, Florida Tuesday, according to wtsp.com.

Police said on April 18, he stabbed another man during an argument at a home in Yarmouth. The victim survived after emergency surgery.

Then on May 10, 2014, police said Benton fired a gun at a man during an argument at Keyes Memorial Beach in Hyannis. The man he shot at had a child with him, police said. No one was hurt.

Benton was living in Mashpee at the time of the crimes. He has ties throughout the Cape, including Yarmouth, Hyannis, and Falmouth.
