Cape Cod Pit Bull Attack: Dog Dies, Owner Cited
Yarmouth police said a pit bull attacked a small dog and its owner.

YARMOUTH, MA — A small dog died after a pit bull attacked it and its owner in Yarmouth Wednesday, according to police. The pit bull owner was cited for having a loose dog and a police investigation is ongoing.
Police said the attack happened at night in the area of Higgins Crowell Road and Roberta Drive. The pit bull somehow got loose and attacked the small dog as its owner, a woman, tried to shield it, police said. The pit bull bit the small dog and the woman multiple times, police said. A neighbor heard the attack and shined a flashlight on the scene, forcing the pit bull to flee, police said. The small dog, named Doc, was still breathing when police arrived but it died three days later.
The pit bull was quarantined amid the ongoing investigation.
