Cape Cod Pizza Shop Fire: Firefighter Treated

EASTHAM, MA — A fire broke out in Eastham at Red Barn Pizza Thursday afternoon, resulting in heat exhaustion for one firefighter, officials said. The fire was reported at about 12:15 p.m. at the State Highway restaurant, police said. No one else was hurt.

"A small fire was located in a ventilation shaft which had extended to the surrounding wood frame of the roof structure," Eastham police said in a statement. "Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and remove the ventilation unit."

Officials said the cause of the fire appears to be accidental. The cause remained under investigation.

Nearby businesses were closed so repairs could be made, police said.
