Cape Cod Police Arrest Level 3 Sex Offender

Yarmouth police said a convicted sex offender was arrested for rape and indecent assault on an intellectually disabled individual.

YARMOUTH, MA — A convicted sex offender was arrested on rape charges in Yarmouth Wednesday, according to police. The suspect was not publicly identified due to a restriction in state law, police said. The arrest happened Wednesday at about 5:50 p.m.

Yarmouth police said the suspect has a previous rape conviction and had warrants out for rape (subsequent offense) and indecent assault on a person with an intellectual disability. Police said the rape happened in Yarmouth. The suspect is a "Level 3" sex offender — the most dangerous designation for such suspects. These individuals are considered a "high" risk to reoffend, according to state officials.

The suspect was held in custody pending an arraignment Thursday in Barnstable District Court.
