YARMOUTH, MA — Two Cape Cod motorcyclists were arrested Sunday after leading officers on a chase through Yarmouth, police said. Yarmouth police said on Sunday, Officer Ryan Brule observed the men driving motorcycles on Route 28. One was on a red Honda Ruckus and the other was on a black, homemade mini-chopper, police said.

"The bikes were riding in tandem, one outside the white break down lane and the other bike was riding in the roadway," Yarmouth police said in a statement. "Both bikes were extremely loud and their operation was causing a traffic backup on Route 28."

Brule attempted to pull the drivers over but they turned onto Standish Way — crossing into oncoming traffic and nearly hitting a vehicle head-on, police said.

"They continued on Standish Road, and then took another left turn onto Bradford Road," police said. "They drove down Bradford and then took an abrupt right turn onto Mayflower Road. They then pulled into the driveway of 41A Mayflower Road and both jumped off their bikes ... walking towards the house, where one other male party was standing."

Sullivan and Banden were "verbally combative and uncooperative," police said. Backup arrived and the pair were eventually detained, police said.

Sullivan was charged with failing to stop for police, driving a vehicle with a suspended license and driving an unregistered vehicle. Banden was charged with failing to stop for police, driving to endanger and driving an unregistered vehicle. They were released on $40 bail pending an arraignment Tuesday in Barnstable District Court.
