Cape Cod Police Seize Realistic BB Guns

Police in Bourne said they seized two realistic-looking BB guns Tuesday.

BOURNE, MA — Bourne police said they seized two realistic-looking BB guns during an investigation Tuesday. The seizures were made after officers received a report of a disturbance in a neighborhood and found two individuals holding the weapons.

"These BB guns were seized today as part of an investigation into the destruction of property and the discharge of a BB gun over a public way," Bourne police said in a statement. "Thankfully, the officers received prior knowledge that the weapons involved were BB guns."

No charges were immediately announced against the suspects.

Police continued, "The next time you hear about a police use of force incident and hear that the suspect 'only had a BB gun' ... think to yourself, 'Would I recognize this item as 'ONLY' a BB gun at 2AM with less than a second to analyze my options?"
