Cape Cod Smash-and-Grab Suspect Caught

Car break-ins at beaches and conservation areas were reported across several Cape communities.

DENNIS, MA – A Cape Cod man has been charged in a series of smash-and-grab break-ins at beaches and conservation areas, police said. Mohammad Sageir, 28, of Truro, was arrested Friday evening while driving a car investigators tied to the break-ins.

A joint investigation began after cars in Dennis, Brewster, Harwich, Chatham and Wellfleet had their windows smashed and items stolen from inside. Investigators identified Sageir as a suspect and stopped him on Rt. 134 in Dennis.

Officers searched his car and found "numerous" stolen items connected to the break-ins, according to police. Dennis police charged him with two counts of breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, two counts of larceny and fraudulent use of credit cards.

He was held on $1,000 cash bail pending his arraignment Tuesday. Sageir will also faces charges in Brewster, Harwich, Chatham and Wellfleet, police said.
