Cape Cod Teen Writer's Conference Enters Third Year

The August conference for teen writers is now open for Registration! Read on!

Have you ever wanted to write? Never knew where to start or how to take a story that spins in your head and finally put it down on paper? Well, if you are past the age of 19, you can take a look at the Cape Cod Writer's Center Summer Conference, BUT if you want to get in to the EPIC Cape Cod Teen Writers Conference, you're out of luck.

Because the Teen Conference is just that - a conference only for teens and it's FREE!

Brought to you by the generosity of the Marstons Mills Public Library, The Kirkman Trust, and Titcomb’s Bookshop, this four-day conference is for writers ages 13 to 19 and is limited to 40 students. Faculty includes Urban Fantasy novelist and blogger K.R. Conway, Graphic Novelist and Middle Grade writer Jim Hill, Middle Grade author Rajani LaRocca, and Young Adult author Erin Dionne. Topics covered include opening lines, story pitches, plotting, writing in reverse, character development, voice, points of view, plot twists, writing tricks, dialog, action, motivation, villains, and world building.

Throughout the course of the three days, students will get to explore storytelling and their own writing styles in a creative, fun environment alongside other teens. By the end of the conference, students will be able to continue with their writing journeys, armed with the tricks of the trade and a rich group of fellow writers-turned-friends.

On the final day of the conference, students will assemble what they have learned and written onto displays. They will then have lunch with our visiting authors and then, after lunch, they will be joined by their parents, family, and friends to show off their own work and enjoy a Young Adult Author Panel (which IS open to the public). This year, our amazing panel features authors from all genres including Fantasy, Contemporary, Horror, Sci Fi, and more! Books will be available for purchase and signing after the panel (and, of course, pictures with the authors).
