Cape Cod Woman Used Heroin Prior To Crash: Police
The 27-year-old faces a drugged driving charge after crashing into a utility pole Saturday night, police said.
YARMOUTH, MA – A Cape Cod woman used heroin prior to crashing into a utility pole in Yarmouth Saturday night, police said. Amanda Shewan, 27, of Dennis, faces charges of operating under the influence of drugs, operating a motor vehicle negligently so as to endanger and a marked lanes violation.
Police said Shewan was behind the wheel of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze that crashed on Buck Island Road around 7:20 p.m. Saturday. The car was driving west on Buck Island Road before going off the road, striking a utility pole and coming to rest sideways on a guardrail on the north side, according to police.
Witnesses told police the car was driving within the speed limit but started weaving and swerving before crashing into the pole, Yarmouth police said in a statement.

Shewan was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where it was determined she had used heroin before the crash, according to police.
