Cape Cod's First Recreational Pot Shop Could Open Next Month

Curaleaf's state license was approved and could open as Cape Cod's first recreational marijuana dispensary next month.

PROVINCETOWN, MA — The Cannabis Control Commission approved the application for Cape Cod's first recreational marijuana dispensary. Curaleaf hopes to open at 170 Commercial St. in Providence in late January, the Cape Cod Times reported.

"Cultivating wellness is our mission, and we're excited to become a part of this important community where we expect to create over 30 jobs and get involved with many of the local charities and initiatives that are important to the Outer Cape," Patrik Jonsson told the Cape Cod Times.

Before Curaleaf can open, the business needs a final inspection of the property from the commission and a license from the town's licensing board. Curaleaf has yet to submit an application for a local permit, but once it does, a public hearing is expected to be scheduled.
