Cape Resort Makes Condé Nast's 2022 List Of Best Hotels In World

CHATHAM, MA — A Cape Cod inn made Condé Nast Traveler's 2022 list of the 45 best hotels and resorts in the world.

Chatham Bars Inn was the only resort named in New England and one of just 14 in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean to make the Condé Nast Gold List. The list is made by Condé Nast editors from around the world and represent, "the places and experiences (editors) carry in their hearts," the publication's website said.

Condé Nast editor Cassie Shortsleeve said Chatham Bars Inn "has long excelled at letting family and luxury coexist."

"A mastery of contradictions—palatial and homey; sandy feet and designer sandals; kids menus and an adults-only spa—CBI has been loved by those who have been coming for generations," Shortsleeve wrote. "And families don’t flock there generation after generation because of renovations or complimentary kids activities (albeit, they’re nice brochure perks). They come because every inch of the property’s 25 acres (CBI has quietly picked up more throughout the years) is intoxicating."

Chatham Bars Inn, at 297 Shore Road, is a year-round oceanfront resort. It has 217 rooms and suites in 30 separate buildings, a spa, several restaurants, an eight-acre seasonal farm and a quarter-mile of private beach. It opened in 1914, originally as a luxury hunting lodge for wealthy Bostonians.
