The Sweep Flag Company, a Cummaquid based sports novelty company, has announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a trademark registration for the company’s Sweep® Flag product.
“We are pleased to have the protection for our intellectual property garnered from the registration.

As a sports and statistics fan since childhood, I have been interested in the concept of a sweep, namely winning all of the games in a set of consecutive games between two teams. It was always fun anticipating a sweep by yelling: “We Want a Sweep” or waving a broom after my favorite team completed a sweep or bragging about our team’s sweep to my friends who supported a rival team.” said Lee Hill, Sweep Flag Company President.
Cotuit resident and Sweep Flag owner, Greg Roberts, added: “This summer I went to Fenway with a broom to cheer for a sweep after the Sox had won two of the first three games in a series against Texas. But, I was very surprised when the usher wouldn’t let me bring the broom into the stadium. He said Major League Baseball had banned brooms from the ballpark. That’s when I got a Sweep Flag to use at the park.”
