Centerville Motorcyclist Crashes Into Police Cruiser: Cops

YARMOUTH, MA — A Centerville man was cited after his motorcycle collided with a Yarmouth police cruiser on Route 28, police said. Alan Pinho, 36, crashed into a police cruiser heading west on Route 28 around 4:20 p.m. Monday, according to police. The crash happened near the Barnstable town line in heavy summertime traffic.

Witnesses told police Pinho was passing several eastbound cars on the right shoulder and collided with the cruiser as both vehicles tried to pull into a service station parking lot at the same time. Pinho's motorcycle, a 1998 Suzuki VZ800, crashed into the front bumper of the 2017 Ford Police Interceptor SUV, police said.

Pinho was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with minor injuries. He was cited for passing on the right and unsafe operation of a motor vehicle.
