Chatham DUI Crash: Man Seriously Hurt, Police Say

A drunk driver crashed into a tree in Chatham this morning, police said.

CHATHAM, MA — A drunk driver was seriously injured in Chatham Wednesday morning after crashing into a tree, police said. Clarence Crowell, 22, was medflighted to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Crowell was drunk when he slammed his 2016 Honda Civic into a tree around 12:30 a.m. on Sam Ryder Road, police said. He was charged with drunk driving and multiple vehicle violations.

Chatham police said it was the latest in a series of crashes in town involving alcohol.

"Please do not drink and drive," Chatham police said in a statement. "Be safe and enjoy the holidays responsibly."

Chatham police and the Barnstable County Sheriff's Department participated in the investigation.
