Coast Guard Medevacs Woman From Cruise Ship Off Cape Cod

A Jawhawk helicopter was dispatched about 50 miles off Nantucket.

The Coast Guard on Sunday medically evacuated a 69-year-old woman from a cruise ship off Cape Cod.

The rescue happened about 50 miles south of Nantucket.

The woman was suffering internal injuries. A Jayhawk helicopter was dispatched to the scene and crews hoisted the woman up from the deck of the Norwegian Gem.

“Visibility was limited due to the weather, but thanks to the professionalism of the Norwegian Gem’s crew the medevac was a success,” Lt. Cmdr. Scott Higbee said in a statement.

The woman was transported to Cape Cod Hospital.
