Craft Donations Needed for Children's Art Program

LOCAL ART THERAPY PROGRAM FOR KIDS SEEKS DONATIONS OF FABRIC, BUTTONS AND RIBBON TO EXPAND REACH INSIDE CAPE COD

Osterville, MA (October 7, 2014) – Art Bags for Kids, a non-profit art therapy program for children who are either limited to their home due to illness or disability, or are not able to regularly participate in social or school art programs, is seeking donations in hopes of expanding its reach outside of Cape Cod.

The organization, founded by Osterville resident, author and artist, Christine Frisbee, has a mission to spread the magic healing power of art by supplying deserving children with the tools to have fun, use their imagination and create art in their own space. Art bags filled with age-appropriate supplies are donated to local hospitals and organizations that are able to distribute them to children who can benefit from a healthy dose of creativity and fun. Frisbee’s hope is that the power of art is both healing and motivational for children in their otherwise limiting situations.

“Each of our goodie bags is filled with fun art supplies like felt, buttons and yarn, as well as project ideas to help get the creative juices flowing, which allow children create their own masterpieces,” says Frisbee. “Young artists also can submit their artwork to the Art Bags for Kids website for publication and to share positive feedback amongst a caring community of children in similar situations.”

In the last year Art Bags for Kids has donated supplies to the Pedi Pal program at Hope Health Hospice of Cape Cod. More recently, in hopes of expanding their healing reach, the organization has also donated supplies to several hospitals, including Yale-New Haven Hospital and Cleveland Clinic. They hope to continue to reach children across the US and spread the healing power of art.
