Crosswalk Upgrades Coming To Hyannis Main Street

Two days of work is all it will take to improve crosswalks on Hyannis Main Street, officials said. Here's what to know.

News release from Town of Barnstable.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Starting Wednesday, September 27, 2023, the Town of Barnstable will commence crosswalk improvements along Main Street, Hyannis, from Old Colony Road to Stevens Street.

Removal of the crosswalks will occur during the hours of 8:00AM to 4:00PM, weather permitting, and is anticipated to take two days to complete. As a result, traffic on Main Street will be reduced to a single lane, within the vicinity of each work zone, in order to safely complete the work. Following removal, painting of the crosswalks will occur overnight to mitigate traffic impacts.

Motorists should expect delays. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through road construction areas, and follow posted safety and detour signs.
