Detective Stuck With Syringe During Cape Cod Drug Bust
Six people face charges following the heroin bust Wednesday afternoon.

YARMOUTH, MA – Six people have been charged following a heroin bust in Yarmouth Wednesday during which a detective was stuck with a used syringe, according to police. Officers stopped a car on Autumn Way in South Yarmouth around 4 p.m. and found a small bag of heroin inside, leading them to the home of a wanted man on Amelia Way, police said.
Officers went to the home and arrested 28-year-old Michael Geggatt. Inside they found a large amount of drug paraphernalia, syringes, cotton swabs, metal caps used for cooking heroin and empty corner-cut bags in plain view, according to Yarmouth police.
They allegedly saw 29-year-old Michael Santos in the process of using heroin with a syringe in his hand and a small bag of heroin next to him. Detectives were called to the scene and found 32-year-old Timothy Daffinee sitting on the floor of a bedroom and an unknown man at the door.

The man, later identified as 31-year-old Euclides Matias, opened the bedroom door quickly slammed it, striking the detective, police said. He then jumped onto the bed in an attempt to flee. During the attack, the detective was stuck with a used hypodermic needle, police said.
The detective was treated at Cape Cod Hospital for the exposure. Matias and Daffinee were taken into custody.

Officers found heroin in the room, and two bags of heroin weighing about 32 grams during a search of Matias, police said.
Other evidence, including $1,601 in cash and a digital scale, was seized.

Charges: Warrants for shoplifting and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (Barnstable District Court.
Timothy Daffinee, 32, of Yarmouth (15 Priors)
Charges: Possession of a Class A drug (heroin)
Michael Santos, 29, of Yarmouth (3 Priors)

Charges: Possession of a Class A drug (heroin)
Zachary Tuers, 29, of Yarmouth (17 Priors)

Charges: Warrants for possession of a Class A drug (heroin), operating a motor vehicle with license suspended (two counts), carrying a dangerous weapon (Barnstable District Court)
Warrant for leaving the scene of motor vehicle crash with property damage (New Bedford District Court)
Euclides Matias, 31, of Roxbury (29 Priors)

Charges: Assault and battery while armed with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and trafficking in 18-36 grams of heroin/morphine/opium
Warrant for possession of a Class B drug (fentanyl) - subsequent offense (Quincy District Court)
All were scheduled for arraignment in Barnstable District Court Thursday morning. Police also summonsed the following person:
Paulina Gontarz, 26, of Yarmouth (11 Priors)
Charges: Possession of a Class A drug (heroin).
