Dog Dies, 3 People Injured In Barnstable Crash

The head-on crash, two-car crash in Cotuit sent two people to South Shore Hospital and another to Cape Cod Hospital.

COTUIT, MA — A dog died, and three people suffered serious injuries in a crash in Cotuit on Monday, according to fire officials.

The head-on crash, two-car crash happened just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Anchor Lane and Route 28. Fire Chief Paul Rhude said both airbags deployed, and one person became entrapped in one of the cars.

Once emergency officials saw how many people were injured, they also called two more ambulances to the scene from Centerville. Fire officials extricated one woman from their vehicle and took her to Cape Cod Hospital. Rhude said she suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

In the other car was a woman, a girl and a dog. Rhude said the dog was found dead on the floor of the passenger seat. The two passengers were rushed to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, as the woman suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Police are investigating what caused the crash.
