Drive-In Movie Theater Opening In Hyannis

HYANNIS, MA — A taste of 20th century entertainment will return to Hyannis this summer to give residents something to do amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District, the Hyannis Film Festival and Love Live Local have teamed up to open a drive-in movie theater.
Business district director Elizabeth Wurfbain told the Cape Cod Times she reserved a 20-foot-by-12-foot inflatable screen to open a theater at the parking lot near the intersection Main Street and High School Road. This will be Hyannis' first drive-in theater since the one on Route 132 closed in 1987.
"We want to provide entertainment for people who want to get out," Wurfbain told the Cape Cod Times. "Things we can do is watch movies with our families, eat and be in our cars."
