Driver Charged In Fiery Cape Cod Crash

No injuries were reported in a weekend crash on Cape Cod, but one driver faces multiple charges.

YARMOUTH, MA — A fiery car crash didn't result in injury but did lead to charges for one Cape Cod man.

On Friday at 11:56 p.m., the Yarmouth Police Department received a 911 call reporting a car crash with the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Officers responded to the scene and approached the vehicle to assess the situation.

"Despite the potential risks to their safety, officers broke the driver’s side front and rear windows to gain access to the passenger compartment," police said.

"Fortunately, it was determined that the vehicle was unoccupied."

Yarmouth Fire Department officials arrived and quickly extinguished the fire, determining that the vehicle was a total loss.

The driver was identified as Arthur Garabrant III, 42, of South Yarmouth, who was located at a nearby residence. Garabrant was issued a summons for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
