Drunken Driver Knocks Out Power In Hyannis: Police

A Hyannis woman caused a power outage after she drunkenly crashed her station wagon into a utility pole, according to police.

HYANNIS, MA — A Hyannis woman was arrested after police said she drunkenly crashed into a utility pole and caused a power outage. Nicole Andrews, 48, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol (second offense), leaving the scene of an accident after property damage and operating to endanger.

Around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, witnesses told police they saw a woman crash her station wagon into a utility pole at the intersection of Sea Street and Ocean Avenue.

Police said Andrews ran away from the crash. Later that night, residents told police they heard a woman calling for help. Barnstable police found Andrews in a nearby backyard and arrested her.

Andrews was scheduled to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court Monday.
