Elderly Cape Cod Man Behind Carjacking, Rollover: PD

Police took the 72-year-old for a mental health evaluation after he "forcibly removed" the occupants of a car and flipped it in Boston.

BOSTON, MA — An elderly Hyannis man was arrested after a carjacking on the Bowker Overpass in Boston Friday, State Police said. The man, 72, "forcibly removed" the people inside a Kia SUV before fleeing the scene, according to police.

He drove the Kia the wrong way, striking several other cars, before crashing and rolling over on Boylston Street near the base of the overpass, police said. Troopers restrained the man at the scene and brought him to Beth Israel Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

No injuries were reported.
