Endangered Birds Temporarily Close Hyannis Beach To Vehicles

HYANNIS, MA — Endangered nesting shore birds will force Barnstable officials to temporarily close a beach to vehicles, officials said.

Barnstable will be temporarily closing the Eugena Fortes Beach Way to Water to vehicular traffic as of Wednesday, officials said.

No vehicles are to be driven on the beach to launch vessels.

The closure will be temporary in nature and is due to endangered nesting shore birds in the area, officials said.

"Vehicle access will be restored as soon as possible," they added.
