DY Grad Tom Acousti & Friends Play Concert Benefit

Tom Acousti – musician, actor, writer, producer and recipient of Dennis-Yarmouth High School’s class of 1979’s “Most Creative” superlative – returns to his Cape Cod roots for an intimate evening of music on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Dennis Union Church. Performing his extraordinary “songs about you,” Tom will be joined by the remarkable Robbie Coffin on guitar, as well as special guest performers from Cape Cod.  TICKETS NOW ON SALE: $18 in advance; $22 at door.  Visit www.march24benefit.com.  50% of all ticket sales to benefit the Housing Assistance Corporation of Cape Cod and the Dennis Union Church’s Colombia Mission for School in Ararca.

Acousti delivers autobiographically confessional material, similar to Cat Stevens or Jackson Browne, with passionate energy and a soulful vocal style while crossing musical genres.  He observes, “If you take nothing else away from my show, I hope a sense of not giving up, but always striving to move forward comes through loud and clear.” Acousti is no stranger to the performing world.  At the age of 14, when just a sophomore at D-Y, he was up for a role in 1977’s Jaws II, held leads in both community theater and high school productions of “Godspell,” “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Pippin,” as well as performed around the Cape with his brother Mark in the band Phoxx.  His record-setting seven wins with all original music on the 1994 season of Star Search still stands to this day.
