In The Still Of The Night: Barred Owls

Their call is often translated as “Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you all,” yet only these dark-eyed bards of the night know the true meaning. Large-headed Barred Owls are silent in flight as they pounce on their prey and are thought to mate for life.  Learn more at a presentation and then watch as two of these mesmerizing creatures, who have grown close during their stay at the Cape Wildlife Center, return to the night.

Co-sponsored by Cape Wildlife Center and Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary

Directions:
Cross the Sagamore Bridge onto Cape Cod. From Route 6, take exit 7 to Yarmouth Port. Go north one mile on Willow Street, and take a left onto Route 6A west. Proceed for approximately one mile, then take a right on Bone Hill Road (where you’ll see a large sign for the Harbor Point Restaurant) and a smaller sign for Long Pasture. Follow Bone Hill Road past the upper trail head parking area to the end of Bone Hill Rd and look for a large white Sanctuary sign on your left. Take this driveway to the Visitor Center parking area. Parking is available in the field to your left, and around the circular drive in front of the Visitor Center.
