National Train Day at West Barnstable Train Station

ENJOY TRAINS?

            You are invited to the West Barnstable Train Depot.  The Cape Cod Chapter National Railway Historical Society is sponsoring our first event - --National Train Day at the West Barnstable Train Station on May 12, 2012 from 9:00am to 4:00pm.  A 50-50 fundraiser drawing will be held.  Tickets are $5.00 for an arms-length of tickets.  Drawing will be at 4:00pm.  

Come meet our Stationmaster, Officers and Directors, tour the 100 year old train depot and view the museum’s
historical exhibits and artifacts.  Learn about railroad safety with a presentation by Ed O’Connor from Operation Lifesaver and learn the history of the Cape Cod rails.   Children will be able to play with the model and Thomas the Train displays setup in the baggage room.  Cape Cod Central Railroad will send down railroad equipment for display on the stencil track.  We also will run train videos in th baggage room.   

We welcome new volunteers to join our group this year to help keep the old train station running and maintained.  

In conjunction with this event, Cape Cod Central Railroad is having community appreciation day for Barnstable residents.  Scenic Train Rides departs at 9:25am and 12:25pm from the station.  Tickets are reduced prices.

          The Chapter also wants the public to know it can help make good things happen in the community by volunteering a little of their time.  Help us restore the train station, come down, learn how to assist on Saturdays.  Membership is $46.  We are looking for more folks to become members.  Volunteers are always needed and it is a very rewarding experience.  Please share your talent with us - you’ll enjoy it!  Check out our monthly meeting dates, Membership form and events held on our web site calendar.
