Join award-winning local author Sara Hoagland Hunter, Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m. at the Osterville Village Library for the Earth Day launch of her new sea turtle rescue book, Every Turtle Counts. Children and families on school vacation are invited to come and learn about the Cape Cod heroes who each year rescue earth’s rarest sea turtles from our beaches.
Based on the extensive national effort to save the last of the Kemp’s
ridley turtles, Every Turtle Counts (Ages 5-10) is the touching, adventure
story of Mimi, a seven year old girl diagnosed on the autism spectrum,
who’s challenges, like the turtle’s, are many but whose determination is
undaunted. Temple Grandin calls Every Turtle Counts, “a lovely book that
will motivate children to seek the wonder and beauty in the natural world”.
Author Sara Hoagland and Turtle Rehabber and Director of the National Marine Life Center, Kathy Zagzebski, will show videos of a Cape Cod Turtle Rescue, read from the new book and share how you can help!
Local booksellers Books by the Sea will offer Every Turtle Counts for purchase at the event. This event is free and open to the public.
