Fatal Cape Cod Crash At Dennis Rite Aid

Dennis police said a Harwich man was killed and a Chatham man was injured after a truck crashed into a Rite Aid sign May 6, 2017.

DENNIS, MA — A Harwich man was killed and a Chatham man was injured in a crash at the Dennis Rite Aid Saturday afternoon. Police said the 26-year-old Harwich man was driving a truck on Route 28 when he veered off the road and hit a Rite Aid sign at about 4:30 p.m.

Police said the pair were in a 2001 Ford truck traveling south on Route 28. The vehicle struck a utility pole before hitting the Rite Aid sign. The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

"An initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling east on Route 28, left the south side of the roadway, struck the utility pole then struck the store sign, where it then came to rest," police said in a statement.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
