Fatal Cape Cod Crash At Dennis Rite Aid: Deceased ID'd
Dennis police said Patrick Vaillancourt, 28, of Harwich was killed Saturday in a crash at a Rite Aid. A passenger from Chatham was injured.
DENNIS, MA — A 28-year-old Harwich man was killed and a Chatham man was injured in a crash at the Dennis Rite Aid Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified Monday as Patrick Vaillancourt of Harwich. The Chatham man was not identified.
Police said Vaillancourt was driving a truck on Route 28 when he veered off the road and hit a Rite Aid sign at about 4:30 p.m. He partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said the pair were in a 2001 Ford truck traveling south on Route 28. The vehicle struck a utility pole before hitting the Rite Aid sign. The passenger was transported to Cape Cod Hospital; police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

"An initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling east on Route 28, left the south side of the roadway, struck the utility pole then struck the store sign, where it then came to rest," police said in a statement.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
