Filmmaker Owes Millions In Restitution For Cape Cod Movies
Daniel Adams pleaded guilty in 2012 to defrauding the state of $4.7 million in tax credits for movies filmed on Cape Cod.

BARNSTABLE, MA – A filmmaker who pleaded guilty of defrauding the state of millions in tax credits for movies shot on Cape Cod has only paid back about $5,000 of the $4.3 million he owes in restitution. Daniel Adams, 57, who admitted to defrauding the state of $4.7 million, appeared in court Wednesday for a hearing on the payments, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Adams shot two films on Cape Cod – "The Golden Boys" and "The Lightkeepers" – and received a two- to three-year prison sentence. He represented himself in court Wednesday and told the judge he will be able to make more significant payments when his most recent movie makes a profit.
Adams and the prosecutor agreed to monthly payments of $500.
