Firefighter Fund Real, But Not Associated With Barnstable

BARNSTABLE, MA – Barnstable residents have been receiving calls to donate to the Firefighters Support Fund, which is not associated with any of the local fire departments, police say. The Barnstable Police Department initially cautioned residents these calls could be a possible scam and should be considered suspicious.

It's since been cleared up: police say the Firefighters Support Foundation is a real organization that collects money, but they are not affiliated with Barnstable.
