Firefighter Hurt Battling Hyannis House Fire
A firefighter was injured and five residents were displaced after a two-alarm fire at a Hyannis duplex.
HYANNIS, MA — A firefighter was hospitalized with a shoulder injury after battling a 2-alarm house fire Saturday night. Just before 11 p.m., firefighters were called to a two-story duplex on Murray Way near Sea street.
Fire officials told Boston 25 News smoke was coming from inside the walls of the home's wooden frame. The flames quickly spread from inside the walls on the first floor up to the attic. It took firefighters four hours to extinguish the flames.
Hyannis Fire Captain Nathan Coughlin told the Cape Cod Times five residents were displaced, and the duplex sustained about $150,000 worth of damage. The only injury was to a firefighter who was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment. He has since been released.
