Gas Leak To Blame For Brief Cape Cod Road Closure

A recent road closure in Eastham was caused by a gas leak near the Eagle Wing Motel on Route 6, officials said.

EASTHAM, MA — Cape Cod officials explained a recent road closure in Eastham was caused by a gas leak.

The Eastham Fire Department shared that a road closure on Route 6 last Thursday was due to a large gas main that was struck near the Eagle Wing Motel.

Route 6 was closed in both directions and nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution, officials said.

The closure lasted about one hour as National Grid crews were able to swiftly stop the leak upon arrival.
