Great White Shark Washes Ashore On Cape Cod Beach

See the 9-foot shark that washed up Thursday morning.

TRURO, MA – A great white shark washed up on a Cape Cod beach Thursday morning, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. The shark was reported at a Truro beach and is estimated to be about nine feet.

Researchers from the Massachusetts Department of Marine Fisheries and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration were called to take tissue samples. The conservancy did not specify where in Truro the shark washed ashore, but several beaches in town have been closed this summer due to shark sightings. A man was also bitten while standing in the ocean off the coast of Truro last week.
