'Help Me' Scream On 911 Call Leads To Arrest On Cape Cod
Police: a man was arrested on domestic violence charges after he repeatedly hit a woman before taking her phone when she tried to call 911.
YARMOUTH, MA — A man was arrested on domestic violence charges after dispatchers heard a woman screaming, "Help me, help me" on a 911 call before hanging up, Yarmouth police said. Police received the call around 2:30 a.m. July 11 and were able to find the caller's location without being told an address.
Upon arrival, officers heard a baby crying and cries for help from inside the home, according to police. The woman told officers the man broke into the home around 1 am. and began repeatedly hitting her. She said she ran to the basement to call 911 and yelled "Help me!" before he took the phone from her.
The man cornered the woman in the basement and would not allow her or the baby to escape, police said. He was placed under arrest and held on $2,500 cash bail on charges of assault and battery intimate relationship; assault while armed with a dangerous weapon; suffocation; intimidating a witness; kidnapping; and reckless endangerment of a child under 18.

The victim declined to go to the hospital, police said. The Department of Children and Families was notified.
