Heritage Museums & Gardens

Heritage Museums & Gardens celebrates American culture and inspires people of all ages to explore, discover and learn together. Located on 100 acres of gardens and nature trails, Heritage offers specialty gardens, water features, and sculpture as well as three gallery buildings housing automobiles, American folk art, historical artifacts, and special exhibitions.  Hidden Hollow, an interactive family-friendly area, allows for exploration of the natural world and learning about the environment.

Special exhibitions in 2014 include Wicked Plants (April 19 – September 1) and David Rogers’ Big Bugs (May 31 - October 26). Inspired by the best-selling book Wicked Plants: The Weed that Killed Lincoln’s Mother and other Botanical Atrocities, Wicked Plants gives visitors an up-close view of some of the world’s most diabolical botanicals. With Big Bugs, sculptor David Rogers creates insects such as 25-foot long ants and dragonflies using combinations of whole trees, cut green saplings, dry branches, and other forest materials.

Year-round programming for children is available with The Hundred Acre School, Heritage’s STEM preschool program. EveryFriday in July and August, there’s Family Fun Friday with live music, arts & crafts, lawn games and more. From April- October, Heritage offers various activities in Hidden Hollow.  Gardens Aglow, an annual holiday celebration of lights, runs Friday-Sunday, November 28 - December 28, 4:30 - 8:30 pm. Call for ticket prices.
