Historic Cape Cod Landmark Up For Sale

CENTERVILLE, MA — After 49 years in the O’Connor family, the 1856 Country Store in Centerville is up for sale.

The store has become an iconic Cape Cod landmark since it was built in 1840.

Although its shelves are filled with various items, many visitors stop by for old-fashioned penny candy, homemade jams, gifts and pictures of Cape Cod that provide a link to the past. For the O’Connors, the store has become intertwined with their family.

Over the years, the Country Store has served as a staple in the community, no matter how the world around it changes.

While its future is uncertain, the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The listing says the store, its inventory and the apartment on the second floor are all included in the sale. While the asking price is not listed online, Premier Commercial is handling the sale and taking inquiries.
