Hollywood Comes Calling On The Cape, Extras Wanted: Reports

A correctional facility is the setting for scenes in a psychological horror picture being filmed in Buzzards Bay.

CAPE COD, MA — A bit of Hollywood glam is coming to the county jail in Buzzards Bay.

A psychological horror movie, “Deluxe Ocean View,” will be shooting scenes this week at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility, according to MassLive.com.

The main character of the film is journalist Ethan Everett, who arrives at a seaside resort during the off-season, ready to conduct an interview that might save his career.

But he’s unaware that the hotel is a malevolent force – “one that exposes the truths you've buried, then executes you,” the film's working description says.

Think “The Shining,” but set on the Cape.

Starring as Everett is Callan McAuliffe, who’s had roles in feature films such as “Flipped,” “The Great Gatsby” and “Beneath the Harvest Sky.” Other actors in the new movie are Camryn Manheim and Henry Ian Cusick.

The cast and crew will be working inside the correctional facility on Wednesday and Thursday. And they’re looking for people to play a couple of small roles: a security guard and a prison doctor.

The roles each pay $224 for a day-long shoot. Casting publication Backstage has more information about the parts.

The Barnstable County Correctional Facility can hold up to 590 men and women, although the typical number is around 270.
