Christmas tree disposal is free in Barnstable to those with a full transfer station sticker.

BARNSTABLE, MA — The holiday season has now officially passed, meaning locals on Cape Cod are probably preparing to take down their Christmas tree.

Christmas tree disposal can prove tricky, but it doesn't have to be in Barnstable.

According to the town, Christmas trees can be disposed of for free to those with a full transfer station sticker. There is a fee for disposal for those without a sticker.

That disposal can happen from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily at 45 Flint St. There's a technical deadline of March for that disposal, so residents have plenty of time to take in as much holiday cheer as they need.

Keep in mind that, in most cases, trees need to be disposed of completely bare, meaning no ornaments, lights or plastic bags should be on the tree.
