Hunt Wins 5th Barnstable State House Primary

Incumbent State Rep. Randy Hunt defeated Ronald R. Beaty, Jr., according to reports.

BARNSTABLE, MA – State Rep. Randy Hunt defeated Ronald R. Beaty, Jr. in the Fifth Barnstable District primary Tuesday, according to WBUR. Hunt was first elected to the State House in 2011, having previously served as a selectman in the town of Sandwich and as a member of the town's finance committee.

Hunt received 3,179 votes to Beaty's 826. He will face Democratic candidate Jack Stanton in the general election Nov. 6.

In the race for First Barnstable District representative, Steven Leibowitz had received 76.88 percent of the vote to Joshua Mason's 23.12 as of 11:15 p.m., WBUR reported. The winner will go up against incumbent Republican state Rep. Timothy Whelan.
