The project has now entered its second phase and remains on its trajectory of being finalized in late spring, town officials said.
Update: This meeting has been moved to the Barnstable High School cafeteria due to a scheduling conflict at the Performing Arts Center. Attendees should enter through the school’s gymnasium entrance, officials said.
HYANNIS, MA — A second public meeting has been scheduled as stakeholders move through the process of a rethought, redesigned Hyannis Main Street.
In late November 2022, the "GREAT STREETS DOWNTOWN HYANNIS: A Walkable Heart for Cape Cod" project kicked off a week-long meeting series lead by Jeff Speck, of Speck & Associates, and Stantec Consulting Services.

"Following the valuable input shared in November, and through online engagement opportunities on the project website, the team has developed a series of early street design concepts," a news release read. "These will be shared at a presentation and open house which the Town of Barnstable invites you to participate in."
The concepts shown will demonstrate how various streets and intersections in Hyannis could look once redesigned, including the potential for restoring two-way traffic flow downtown.
There will be a brief, formal presentation followed by an opportunity to ask the consultants questions and provide feedback on the designs.
The event is scheduled for Jan. 25. There will be a presentation from 7 to 8 p.m. followed by an open house from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Barnstable High School cafeteria. Attendees are asked to enter through the gymnasium.
