Hyannis Man Caught with 16 Pounds of Marijuana: Police

Police said they were tipped off by a postal delivery company; the value of the drugs was estimated at $70,000.

Barnstable police this week made a large drug bust after a postal delivery company tipped them off.

Shawn White, 37, of Hyannis, was charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute. Police said they found him with 16 pounds of pot valued at about $70,000.

On Tuesday, police said they were contacted by the postal company about a suspicious package mailed from California to a Centerville address. Mashpee Ofc. Michael Assad and his K-9 Lola detected drugs in the package, police said. Officers arraigned for the the package to be delivered to the address—at which point a woman brought it in her residence, police said.
