Hyannis Man Charged As Career Criminal For Firearm: Barnstable Police
A Hyannis man is held without bail after Barnstable Police recovered a loaded firearm and seven rounds of ammunition on Monday.
BARNSTABLE, MA — A Hyannis man is being charged as an "armed career criminal" after a firearms arrest in Barnstable on Monday, police said.
Officers responded to the Village Green Apartment at 9 a.m. after hearing that a man was walking around the complex with a gun, police said.
Randy Newell, 34, was approached by officers during the investigation, and police discovered a loaded pistol as well as seven rounds of ammunition.

Newell was arrested and taken to the police department and Barnstable District Court, where he was arraigned on charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm, unlawfully carrying a firearm subsequent offense, possession of ammunition without an firearm identification card, and firearm violation with three prior violent or drug crimes.
He is held without bail pending a hearing scheduled for July 6, police said.
