Hyannis Man Found With $35K Worth Of Fentanyl: Police
The 27-year-old was charged with trafficking after he was pulled over Thursday with hundreds of grams of drugs, according to police.
HYANNIS, MA – A Hyannis man was arrested Thursday morning and charged with drug trafficking following a months-long investigation, police said. Barnstable police and the Cape Cod DEA office began investigating 27-year-old Jonathan Cotell in October and found he was going to Lawrence each week to buy "hundreds of grams of heroin/fentanyl at wholesale prices," according to a Barnstable police statement.
Cotell then brought the drugs back to the Cape and sold them to users and dealers in the area, police said. Authorities stopped Cotell shortly before 1 a.m. on Dec. 6 as he was driving back from Lawrence on Rt. 132.
"Approximately 175 grams of fentanyl (street value is $35,000) and 28 grams of cocaine were discovered hidden inside the vehicle operated by Cotell," police said in a statement. He was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl and cocaine.
