Hyannis Man Stabs Man In The Eye: Prosecutors

Rhawn Depriest, 34, of Hyannis, is being held on $50,000 bail after prosecutors said he stabbed a man in the eye.

HYANNIS, MA — A Hyannis man was arraigned in Barnstable District Court after prosecutors said he stabbed a man in the eye. Rhawn Depriest, 34, pleaded not guilty Monday to two counts of a assault with a danger weapon, two counts of threatening to commit a crime and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person age 60 or over. Depriest was ordered held on $50,000 bail.

Police were called to a condominium complex on Bearse's Way in Hyannis around 4:10 a.m. Sunday after reports of the stabbing. According to the Cape Cod Times, which first reported the story, officers found a man grimacing in pain while holding his left eye. Prosecutors said a witness told police she was with Depriest and the man when the two were fighting. Depriest then took out three knives and attacked the man and threatened to kill him and the woman, prosecutors said. The man was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and then transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for his injuries.
