Police Identify Hyannis Teen Killed In Crash

The 19-year-old was driving a work truck in Marstons Mills and struck a tree, police said.

MARSTONS MILLS, MA — A 19-year-old Hyannis man died when the work van he was driving crashed into a tree in Marstons Mills, Barnstable police said.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m., Friday, on Race Lane. Police and fire officials said the van left the road and struck a tree.

Fire officials said the driver was extricated from the vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified the man as Marllon Faria.

"The Barnstable Police Department sends their condolences to Marllon’s family and friends," police said in a statement. "Please contact us if there is anything we can do to assist you during this difficult time."

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the crash, but it appears to be weather-related, following Friday's winter storm.
