Hyannis Woman Stole From Sean Gannon Auction: Police
The "Back the Blue/A Night to Remember Sean" event was held Friday to fundraise for the Yarmouth Police Foundation.

HYANNIS, MA – A Hyannis woman was arrested Friday after allegedly stealing one of the auction items at a fundraiser in memory of fallen Yarmouth police sergeant Sean Gannon. Police responded to the Cape Codder Resort on Rt. 132 in Hyannis around 10:30 p.m. Friday night, where the "Back the Blue/A Night to Remember Sean" event was being held to raise money for the Yarmouth Police Foundation.
Officers were told one of the silent auction items, a decorative blue box containing golf balls, baseball hats and a variety of shirts, had gone missing. Police reviewed security footage, which showed a woman allegedly taking the box from the table and leaving the resort.
The woman was later identified as 56-year-old Maureen Wiggin. Police said she was initially uncooperative, but officers found the box in the trunk of her car. It was returned to the event and awarded to its winner.
